Great news from the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Apparently due to high levels of concern, talks on the Treaty will continue next year,  with witnesses to be called on from outside the government.

OUR FIGHT IS NOT OVER. We must keep up the pressure to insure that the Senate is aware of the grave dangers of this treaty. After tomorrow, we will have a record how individual members of the Foreign Relations Committee voted in today's hearings. From that information we will be able to work on senators who support it, and encourage those who oppose it.

Excerpted from Lugar's opening statement on today's Treaty hearings:
"The Committee is aware that particular interest has been expressed about the treaty with the United Kingdom. The Committee will carefully consider this treaty, and expects to hold an additional hearing next year to hear from witnesses outside our government. Today, we want to establish a record of the Administration's views on the treaty to which the Committee and all interested parties can refer as we continue our deliberations."
