US-UK Extradition Treaty Passes Hearings, Goes to Senate

Thursday September 7, 2006

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has just unanimously PASSED the US-UK Extradition Treaty on to the full Senate for debate and a vote.

EVERY SENATOR on the SFRC Committee uniformly let their supporters down by not opposing this dangerous and un-American treaty.

Our FIGHT must now take a new direction as this treaty goes on to the full Senate. Every US voter must be aware of the dangers of allowing this treaty to pass into US law. This treaty will totally destroy the right to US citizens of judicial review and a fair trial, and will allow a foreign nation, Britain, the right to exercise its own tainted brand of judicial rule here in the United States.

As Irish American activists we are well aware of Britain’s tainted brand of justice; with its long record of forensics doctoring, paid witnesses, security forces collusion with paramilitaries, extra-judicial execution, torture and willful medical neglect of prisoners, mass internment, and multiple instances of decades-long wrongful imprisonment of innocents.

Do Americans want this kind of IN-JUSTICE for our citizens; is this the law of the land we want to see enacted by our elected Senate?

If you haven’t made the calls yet, do so TODAY. Call your US Senator, whoever she/he may be, and ask that they STOP this Treaty from going any further!!
