The Charlie Kerins Unit, Chicago Chapter of the Irish Freedom Committee will host a CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE for Irish Political Prisoners on Saturday, December , 2002. Time and place are listed above. The benefit drive will aim to send Christmas Gifts to Irish Political Prisoners, including Musical Instruments, VCRs, Educational Videos, Books, Magazine Subscriptions, and Music CDs.
Musical Instruments wanted!! Please donate your unwanted guitar, banjo or other instruments to an Irish Political prisoner!! String and wood instruments particularly wanted. Please email us for shipping details.
Please join us for an evening of music and good cheer, and Christmas card signings for Irish POWs and their families. We will also hold a RAFFLE for HANDMADE POW ARTWORK, including a full-color painted hankie, an original drawing of the 1916 Easter Martyrs, handmade leather belts and wallets, and many, many more prizes.

"Searching for James Wilson: from the Catalpa to Central Falls"
The Providence, Rhode Island Chapter of the Irish Freedom Committee will participate in a day-long series of events to commemorate Fenian James Wilson, who escaped from a British penal camp in Australia in 1876 aboard the "Catalpa" and settled in Providence, Rhode Island, where he is buried.
The day's events will include a blessing of the grave and commemorative mass, oration by Seoirse Mc Laughlin of the Irish Freedom Committee, unveiling of the James Wilson exhibit at the Central Falls Library, traditional Irish music and sean nos singing, video screening of "The Life and Times of James Wilson of Central Falls", and a lecture and book signing by Peter Stevens, author of "The Voyage of the Catalpa" (Carol and Graf, 2002).

The Kerins/O'Neill Unit, Boston MA Chapter of the Irish Freedom Committee marched in the 'Dorchester Days' Parade. Members distributed fliers with information about the campaign for POLITICAL STATUS for Irish Republican POWs.

The Boston Chapter of the Irish Freedom Committee, Kerins/O'Neill Unit, held a very successful Spring Dance and Raffle for the benefit of Dependents of Irish Political Prisoners. Music and dancing was enjoyed by all, and the event was highlighted by raffles for many prizes including a Trip for Two to Disney World; a hand painted Irish Bodhron, crafted by Irish Political Prisoners in Portlaoise Gaol; and many, many other prizes too numerous to mention. An enthusiastic and supportive crowd came out to show their support for Irish Republican Prisoners of War that THEY ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!!!

The Charlie Kerins Unit of the Chicago Chapter Irish Freedom Committee honored veteran republican Frank O'Neill in a surprise dinner attended by leading republicans from across the United States, on Saturday April 27th in Brookfield IL. The event was kept a guarded secret due to Frank's known resistance to any form of attention or spotlight. Tributes to Frank O'Neill's long years of service to Ireland were delivered to the event from leaders of the Republican movement in Ireland and from Irish Political Prisoners. Representing the ONLY voice of Irish Republican Prisoners of War in the official Boston St. Patrick's Day parade, the Kerins/O'Neill Unit, Boston MA Chapter of the Irish Freedom Committee led a large contingent of marchers and supporters who reminded the crowd that IRISH POLITICAL PRISONERS ARE NOT FORGOTTEN IN BOSTON . The marchers carried a large banner advertising the IFC website, and were followed by a van with a loudspeaker which announced news on the POWs and their dependents. Information on assisting POWs and their families was distributed to the enthusiastic and very supportive crowd.
