| On March 11th
2006, the Ronan MacLochlainn Cumann of the Irish Freedom Committee,
New Mexico chapter, made a spectacular entry to the Albuquerque St.
Patrick's Day parade with 12 marchers, 3 banners, 13 Harleys
and one trike carrying seven flags. The Irish Freedom Committee
marchers carried banners stating ENGLAND GET OUT OF IRELAND and RESTORE
POLITICAL STATUS TO IRISH REPUBLICAN POWS. Young marchers
passed information on Political Status and Irish Republican POWs to
parade goers, and crowd reception was very positive with a great
response to the messages on the banners.
The following weekend, March 17-18 2006, the Ronan MacLochlainn Cumann organized and manned a merchandise and information booth at the two-day St. Patrick's Day festivities at O'Hare's pub, Rio Rancho NM. Irish Freedom Committee members Gerry and Kody entertained the crowd from the stage with music and Irish ballads, and other IFC members took questions from the crowd at the nearby IFC booth. Over the course of the event much awareness was raised regarding the situation for Irish Republican POWs, the denial of Political Status, and the ongoing military occupation by Britain in Ireland. The events take place from 4:30 PM to Midnight on Friday March 17th and Noon to Midnight on Saturday March 18th at O'Hare's Pub, 4100 Southern Blvd. SE, Rio Rancho New Mexico- "In the Big Tent." The Irish Freedom Committee will have educational material, Republican memorabilia, books and tee-shirts for sale at their booth and will hold a Midnight raffle for many prizes including ORIGINAL HANDMADE CRAFTWORK made by Irish Republican POWs. Please help support the dependants of Irish Republican Political Prisoners!! The Irish Freedom Committee is devoted to the DIRECT SUPPORT of the dependants of Irish Political Prisoners – No monies donated to the IFC go to any banned or proscribed organizations.
