Christmas Drive for Families of Irish Republican Political Prisoners
Sunday Nov. 20, 2005

The Chicago unit of the Irish Freedom Committee held our annual Christmas Drive for families of Irish Republican POWs on Sunday November 20, 2005 at Chicago's famed Abbey Pub.  >>flier  The annual event had a great turnout, and community support was high.  Musical guests were the fabulous Fitzgerald Brothers, Steve and Tom Fitzgerald, who entertained the crowd with their spirited renditions of Republican ballads and traditional music.  A well-deserved special award presentation to both Tom and Steve Fitzgerald was made giving each the IRISH FREEDOM AWARD for their invaluable contributions to the republican movement and to the families of Irish Republican Political Prisoners.  Young and old signed Christmas cards and participated in a raffle of POW craftwork to benefit the families of Irish political prisoners.  All in all it was an enjoyable and successful afternoon - See you at our next event!!
