APPEAL TO CONCERNED FRIENDS OF NOEL MAGUIRE
Letters to the Editor for Noel Maguire
The Irish Freedom Committee is seeking your help on behalf of Noel
Maguire. We need your help in bringing scathing attention on the blatant
and dismissive attitude of the Irish Government – specifically the
Justice Minister Mr. Dermott Ahern – toward an Irish citizen seeking to
be repatriated home, as is his right; who is being refused and
dismissed, perhaps because of the Justice Minister's seeming bias toward
this prisoner who is suffering from a
disability.
We have had it with mealy-mouthed e-mails and carbon-copy letters from
the Irish Free State. We intend to call it as it is. Noel Maguire is
being discriminated against, and there is no other plausible reason why
he is being back-handed and kept on the long finger for so long, while
his co-accused have all come closer to home for several years on now.
Please take a moment – using your own words – and send an email Letter
to the Editor to one or all of the Irish and Irish-American publications
below. We have a sample letter below, modify or use your own words. We
also avail you of the evidence above in composing your letter.
Please email us any response you get, and please sign your letter
denoting that you are a member of the Irish Freedom Committee. Please
let us know if you receive a response.

Atn: LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
To Editor,
I wish to call your attention to the plight of an Irish citizen who has
been held in a British prison on political charges for the past 8 years,
serving a 22-year sentence. This man, Noel Maguire, has petitioned the
Irish Government on humanitarian grounds to be allowed to serve the
remainder of his sentence in Ireland, the country of his birth, where he
could be closer to his wife and two children; which is his right under
EU law. Just last week, the Irish "Justice" Minster Dermott Ahern
callously overturned his fifth petition for transfer, stating that Noel
Maguire has "closer ties" to the UK than Ireland. Shame on Minister
Ahern! Not only is this utterly false; Mr. Ahern is toying with a man
who suffers from a severe learning disability, and cannot correspond
with the outside world to appeal for help in exposing this injustice.
Please don't let Noel Maguire spend another year away from his children,
who have not seen him in six years. Do the right thing, Minister Ahern,
repatriate this man to a prison in Ireland, where he can serve the
remainder of his sentence nearer his loved ones. Don't let us continue
to believe that any bias toward this prisoner who suffers from a
disability, is what is really at play here.
Sincerely,
NAME/ADDRESS
